Our Rooms

At Little Cherubs we have 3 main rooms, a large and spacious garden, a little baby garden, and a separate room for children to develop pre-skills and to participate in one-to-one activities with less distraction.

Ducklings Room

(3 months - 2 years old)

This is our baby room; the ratio we follow in this room is 3:1. The practitioners in this room are Level 3 and Level 2 qualified.

The layout of the room is very calm and homely, which helps babies to easily settle.

In our Ducklings room, the activities are planned based on the Three Prime Areas of the EYFS. The activities in the room are all floor-based and age-appropriate for the babies.

There are lots of sensory-based activities, cause and effect toys, visually stimulating soft toys and also puzzles, construction and more challenging activities as the babies grow older. Sand, water, playdough, paint, and messy play are all part of the continuous provision. Practitioners actively participate in babies' learning and development with lots of high-quality interactions, simple vocabulary, eye contact, singing and sharing books.

The baby room team work alongside parents to help with weaning, feeding, and sleep routines.

Babies’ food can be pureed on parental request and age allowing. Formula milk is provided by the parents. Fresh milk is provided by Little Cherubs. Parents provide nappies, wipes and spare clothes.

Wood Peckers:

(pre skill room and one-to-one activities)

This is our pre-skill room where our older children spend some time focusing on pre-skill activities. Key people take their key children into the room for a short period of time each day to focus on key group activities. This includes their next steps, readiness for school and some one-to-one activities.

This room is also used by our SENCo to carry out one-to-one activities with our SEND children to avoid distraction and ensure focusing and concentration.

Our Outdoor Provision:

Little Cherubs is proud to offer a large, spacious garden to our children. Our garden is divided into different areas of the EYFS. We have a mud kitchen where children can pretend play and develop role modelling and imagination. We also have a large construction pit where children explore the natural resources by digging and learn their basic concepts of EYFS. The nursery has a role-play shop, slides, a pirate ship, a climbing frame, cars, and bikes, where children are encouraged to explore and can take risks. The garden also has a cosy book area and a messy play section.

We also have a gated baby garden for our little walkers and crawlers with age-appropriate outdoor activities.
